Why is this place allowed to take up a city parking space to place their waste grease container. It is placed on the South side of their building.
Grease dripping all over the street. Rats????
  • ktrembley
The food is indicative of the cigarette butts scattered in front of the resturant!

A great example of business owners that just don't care. You're welcomed by a front sidewalk constantly littered with ciggy butts and trash. It doesn't get much better inside. Dirty. Nothing fresh on the menu, everything from the frozen case at the Cash n Carry. Dueling with Rudy's for the worst meal in Magnolia.
  • Weakest drinks in the village. $8 koolaid, are you kidding. Learn how to pour and quit ripping people off.

The restrooms are filthy and smell terrible, gross! The new fries are terrible! A cover charge in Magnolia?!
  • serendipitylover
EWWW!!!!!! they had a sick rat ouside there restraunt! you would think sombody would take care of it! but no, it was there two days i saw it!!!!
  • Val
Trashing The Pub isn't going to make Serendipity look any better, and I doubt the two have any impact on each other's business. There's too many restaurants within 2 blocks that serve edible food.

Listen... The owners here don't get how to run a neighborhood restaurant period! Food and service is terrible! There is a reason since the old owner the cougar guy left and it has gone down hill steadily ever since... No one can deny it everyone knows since he sold it, it has never been the same or as busy... Get him to buy it back or manage it again and boom right back to being the number one sports bar in Seattle!
  • Cs
    That is sooo true!

Continues to stay in business in spite of itself. Anyone could open the same restaurant next door, do it better and send The Pub packing for good.

The health department must not have checked behind this place.
Just filthy. Grease and cigarette butts all over the place. Waste oil receptacle place out on the street, taking up part of a parking place.
A board sign, out for more than a month, talking about a new menu?
    When?

I love those green bean fries! And I didn't have much of a problem with the service. I will agree with another poster who noted two good members of the bar staff while the others were completely useless.
  • Val
According to http://www.decadeonline.com/main.phtml?agency=skc, at last surprise health inspection this restaurant got 55 points, with 3 high risk violations.

I bet you were a hall monitor.

I have always had bad service here before the new owner's too over. I have had a better experience since then, but it's hit or miss. The food is okay and sometimes I wonder it it's worth it. I go to this place since it's convenient and I thought it would be faster after soccer/baseball games then me in the kitchen. Sometimes it is... sometimes it isn't. The owner's are sweet and I wish that the whole staff was like that. I don't know their names but there is a couple of guys that bartender there that are really attentive and always make sure everyone is taken care of.

Loved dinner tonight. We shared the guacamole bacon burger and my wife's brother loved the kid's menu selection! We were delighted to watch the 3-0n-3 basketball tournament on the mini flat screen at our own table.

Service was good, the burger was incredible and the crowd was family friendly but not a play-pen.
  • Virginia
Much better since the latest menu revamp! The prices are bit more reasonable than before as well. The green bean fries are to die for. Service can still be slow at times.
  • Lindsey
Food is truly terrible and the service is mediocre.
  • doug
Not a very good neighbor. Overflowing five gallon garbage can, used for cigarette butts, in rear of restaurant. They place their dumpsters in the street, in rear of restaurant; taking up parking spaces.

Stopped in to try it out since the new ownership. Wish we hadn't. First clue: the menu. Looks like it was done in Powerpoint, cheesy clip art and all, and then printed out on the office inkjet. How about making a good first impression by hiring a designer? This "we don't care" attitude extended to the food. Nothing near fresh, everything we had was formerly frozen or jarred or canned. Horrible. Bathrooms were filthy to top it off.

New menu is fantastic!!! Service is questionable.
  • Magnolia Cougar
To be fare they have been the same owners since this blog started.
  • Milo
New owners are doing a good job, better menu and friendly staff. The food was good! Happy Hour menu is large and good deals. Worth a try.
  • Let's be fair
Considering that there are new owners, it seems like the Village Pub should be able to start anew for the reviews. It doesn't help the new owners to have reviews that drag down there business that they had no control over.

Just a thought since their rating is so low.

I visited the pub yesterday and agree with the need for more servers, but the staff was friendly and polite. My meal was hot and fresh and it seems as though the new owners are committed to spiffing the place up and expanding their menu with items I'm most certain don't come from a freezer bag!

Just went there today 10/1/08 and with the new owners, the booths are back and the food was better. They do need more servers, but the one they have is super sweet!

Though a husky fan, I can still admire the fact that the Cougars have a headquarters deep in enemy territory in order to watch and cheer on Saturdays. Only drawback is that the food is all heated up from packages bought at Costco or some other retailer, and so you get the nice fresh taste of freezer burn. Burgers are edible though, but doesn't even come close to a Red Mill burger (or even a Red Robin) by far!
