Yet another article in the Seattle Times about those oh so confusing new turn lanes on 15th Ave West between Elliott and the Ballard Bridge.
Most people we talk to still don’t get it. And who can blame them? You need a degree in traffic engineering to make sense of it.
This explaination from Seattle Department of Transportation is the best we have seen so far. If you drive in that right lane — regardless of time — you must turn at the next intersection. Except for buses and bicyclists, it’s a right-turn-only lane. The time restriction signs refer to parking.
We continue to see lots of drivers cruise in the right lane from block to block. Don’t expect it to get any better soon. I think we have a long way to get before everyone figures this one out.
