Restaurants offer deals during tough times

September 22nd, 2008 · 2 Comments

Magnolia’s fine dining restaurants are offering deals to keep diners coming in while the economy continues to struggle.  At Palisade they are offering a $32 three course menu Sunday through Thursday and Saturday before 5pm.  At Szmania’s they are offering a TGIF lunch menu, 1/2 price Wine Nights  every Wednesday and $19.95 3-course Happy Hour dinners Tuesdag through Friday when seated before 5:45.

“We do have a very loyal clientele, but absolutely we notice these downturns in the economy,” says Julie Szmania.  “What’s been even worse is the huge rise in wholesale prices, wages and taxes over the last few years.  Expenses way up, revenue a bit down = not good.  But we are trying to adapt by keeping prices as low as possible, offering greater value on some meals and discounts at various times.”

So while restaurants look for ways to keep us coming in, tell us if you are still going out. Have you changed your dining habits recently? Do you go out less? Or do you go to less expensive restaurants instead?

Have you found any great specials or good deals at local restaurants that you can share with us?
