A holiday wish for our readers

December 24th, 2008 · 5 Comments

Happy Holidays to all our Magnolia Voice readers! When we started this blog last August, we hoped it would become a resource for the community and a place for Magnolia residents to share information.

We worked in Seattle television news for many years and we recognize the gap between the coverage provided by the big news operations and the need to know what is happening in our own neighborhood.

This blog, along with our sister sites myballard, phinneywood, queenanneview and fremontuniverse are designed to bring you news from the place where you live. These five sites work together to bring you up to the date news and information that affects your daily life.

Abner and I are volunteers and we both have day (paying!) jobs. We took on this site because we are long time (21 years) Magnolia residents and we love it here. It is exciting for us to be able to provide this service.

It is very clear that in order for Magnolia Voice to be a success, we need the help of our readers and the people who live and work in Magnolia. This snow storm has shown us the power of bringing the neighborhood together and we really appreciate your tips, information and photos. We think our readers are the best!

So, please spread the word about our site and let your neighbors know about us. And please continue to let us know what is important to you. Magnolia Voice is for you and we love to hear from you. Drop us a line anytime at tips@magnoliavoice.com. Also, we really encourage you to comment on our stories, it’s what makes a neighborhood site like this so vibrant and current.

We hope you all enjoy a wonderful Christmas and life returns to normal soon!

Gladys and Abner

I’ve been reading Magnolia Voice basically since it launched, and I would like to say thank you to those responsible for developing and maintaining the site. It’s been a great resource for information relevant to my favorite neighborhood in Seattle, particularly in the past week. Happy Holidays to you, and I hope you have a Happy New Year.

I too have been reading since launch or soom after (though I was thinking it had been around longer?) and want to say thanks for what you have done. Great place to find info with a local flavor, with a very professional look I might add.

One thought on the comments. Is it possible to be alerted whenever someone posts a comment? Maybe via RSS? I get notices about articles, but not for comments.

Anyhow, Happy Holidays to you and all your readers!

I want to sincerely thank you for starting this website. I have only lived in this area for 6 months, but in the last few days of this storm it has proven to be a lifeline and a way to get information about the immediate neighborhood.

Happy holidays and a safe and prosperous new year to you and yours.
