Real estate market blues

January 11th, 2009 · 5 Comments

We like to keep an eye on the Magnolia real estate market and this house on 30th Ave West caught our attention.

The house is an estate sale, after the death of a European woman who lived there for many decades, says Dick Carruthers, of Windermere Real Estate.

What makes this house unusual is the decor.  It is blue.  Entirely blue. The carpet, walls, even the ceilings are blue. The blue on the dining room ceiling is actually wallpaper.

The house is 1800 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.  It is listed for $435,000.

The flyer advertising the house suggests that its a fabulous opportunity offering the new buyer a myriad of options including new paint and carpet, a remodel or tear it down and build your dream home

Unless you really like blue.

Wow. For some reason, the fact that she used two different kinds of blue carpet makes her commitment to this color even more impressive.

I love it when someone finds a decorating style and really commits to it.

Sounds like it really should be priced closer to 400k to 420k considering all the work that needs to be done on that home

Back in my youth I painted houses/apartments in between tenants for some friends. One time the tenant asked them since they were painting anyway to use Ice Blue instead of their usual Landlady White. The temperature in those rooms dropped at least degrees when when it was done - brr!
