UPDATE: The Moyer Foundation wanted to clarify that the charity is not leaving Seattle with this statement: “While the Moyers have put their Magnolia home up for sale, they still plan to split their time between Seattle and Florida. It is business as usual at The Moyer Foundation as we celebrate our ninth year in Seattle working on behalf of children in distress throughout our local community and nationwide. Seattle will always be home for The Moyer Foundation.” - Gary Pollock, Executive Director at The Moyer Foundation.
Just when we thought we found the most expensive real estate in our area, Magnolia Voice has learned that the home belonging to Karen and Jamie Moyer is for sale with a hefty price tag of $8.9 million.
The Moyer home is not only the most expensive on the market in Magnolia, it is one of the most expensive homes for sale in Seattle. The only place we could find with a bigger price tag on the market right now is a house in the Denny Blaine area listed for $10.5 million
The listing by Windermere does not give the address but it is the home the Moyers have lived in since 2001.
We reported in September that the Moyers were leaving for the school year so their sons could attend a baseball academy in Florida. At that time they said they were not selling their home and planned to live in Magnolia during the summer. Jamie Moyer played for the Mariners for ten years and is now with the World Champion Philadelphia Phillies.
According to the listing, the 1933 Tudor home is 7,100 square feet with marble floors, a spacious family room, home theatre, outside entertainment patio, big screen TV, pizza oven, an outdoor kitchen and pool.
There are seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms and a 4 car garage. The two story house also has three fireplaces, a 1,500 bottle wine cellar and an athletic court.
The Moyers originally purchased the home $2.8 million.

Nice house. but you’d think somebody listing houses in that price range could afford a better camera or hire a pro photographer.

Sad that they would leave our local community.

The Moyers are not leaving the community. They are still here once a month and summers. It makes more sense to not spend on monthly upkeep when you can get a great place downtown or on Lake Union to do that for you. I’d do the same thing! The Foundation is still donating tons to local organizations even in this terrible economy.

Yes - I hear they are back pretty frequently and still raising money and giving it to kids in Washington State. Pretty amazing they would stay so involved here while Jamie is playing (and winning!) in Philadelphia. Very cool. I’ll wear a Phillies hat this year!

Dang, I knew I should have become a major league baseball pitcher. There seems to be some money in it.

I hope we can find another major league pitcher with 8 kids and a wife who does community service work who wants to buy it.
Might be a niche market.
