Big crowd at grand opening

February 16th, 2009 · View Comments

It appears there is quite a bit of interest in the new townhomes in The Village, based on the attendance at the grand opening of the Carleton Park townhomes this weekend.  The two day event drew big crowds who wanted to take their first look inside the townhomes across the street from Bartells.

Close to 700 people showed up on Saturday alone for the chance to tour the fully decorated model unit and enjoy a community bbq.

The 14 townhomes range in size from 2,500 to 3,000 square feet.  They are priced from $1,165,000 to $1,495,000.

I have to admit that these are pretty nice inside. I think this is another project that seemed like a good idea before the economy tanked. I bet it will take awhile for them to sell. And I still think they are less than attractive on the outside.

Very nice on the inside, decent landscaping, too much dull gray stone in the driving area, and the color scheme is still abominable. I also don’t like the plain gray concrete finish on the bottom level – it looks cheap and unfinished. I’ll be interested to see what the tax assessor thinks they’re worth, and they’re opinion of the construction quality. A lot of places with luxury finishes are average underneath.

Any word on how sales are going? Hundreds of people showed up for the grand opening. Haven’t heard a word since.
