Donaldson to run for Mayor

March 25th, 2009 · 6 Comments

After weeks of speculation, Magnolia resident James Donaldson will announce on Thursday that he is running for mayor.  The Seattle Weekly reports that Donaldson has made up his mind to take on incumbent Greg Nickels.

The former Seattle Sonic and WSU basketball player had previously declared his candidacy for city council before changing course.  Donaldson told The Weekly “Dissatisfaction in our country and in Seattle is at a tremendously high level. In my heart of hearts, I couldn’t stand to see our current mayor waltz to a third term uncontested. He needs to be challenged.”

The Seattle Times also confirms that Donaldson is in the race. We will have more from Donaldson following his announcement.

Yes!! I’m so ready for a change in our city/state government. I’ll be general, otherwise this will go on for pages. They make decisions every day that effect our lives but rarely allow us to have our say (Schools/Viaduct/Ft. Lawton/15th Ave/Nickerson/Timing of traffic lights/ Sonics, etc…) – it’s all about their own liberal “to a fault” agenda. I need to learn more about Donaldson, but agree with his statement about dissatisfaction..in Seattle being at a high level. It’s time our government start standing up for our law abiding citizens and incorporate a family friendly approach to the growth of our great city. FYI – half of the City Council member’s terms are up this year and the other half in 2011. Vote!
