Work continues at Briarcliff development

June 22nd, 2009 · Comments

Workers are making progress at the Briarcliff Development at 39th and Dravus.

Here is an update from John Cochenour at Lexington Fine Homes.  The company is building 39 homes at the site that used to be home to an elementary school.

Almost all of the underground work has been done in Dravus.   Once all the inspections are completed, then the construction crew should be able to start the replacement of Dravus in about a week.  They need to replace all of Dravus in front of the site, so it will take several weeks to complete, but that should go a long way in reducing traffic disruptions, bumps and gravel.

The sanitary sewer, water mains and storm sewer lines are installed and they are now installing the power/gas/tel/cable.  Qwest is just about done with their work along Dravus and SPU will be installing the 10 water services that run off of the water main in Dravus in about next two weeks.

No prices have yet been published for the homes.

39 homes are going in on this property. They're practically condos since they'll be so close together with such tiny yards. I heard they're going to be about $1.2M.

As a former student at both Briarcliff and Magnolia elementary buildings, and knowing the limited public education options for k-12 students in Magnolia - PLEASE make your voices heard with the Seattle School Board. You can be as irritated as you want with the mayor and council, but it's the school board that runs the school properties show, often in direct opposition to what the mayor and council have asked them to do.

there are a lot of kids leaving this year from my son's 5th grade class so some spots will open up if your children are older. Good Luck

    CB,
That does not make any sense. I know of plenty of kids that got in for next year who live many blocks away from the school. One child is at least twenty blocks away.

My child has not been able to get into Catherine Blaine for two years now (and we live two blocks from the school), due to overcrowding.....'nuff said.

Great. Build more overpriced Magnolia housing where a much needed school building once served our community!!!!!!!!!

Great leadership and vision. One of the many reasons I will be voting for new people in every public office with the opportunity to elect new people that will actually serve the folks that pay the taxes and, in this case, us our public schools !!!!!! Farewell Greg Nickels!!!!
