Boat fire extinguished at Fishermen’s Terminal

June 24th, 2009 · Comments

A large response as fire crews rushed to Fishermen’s Terminal just before 6:30 p.m. for an engine fire in a boat.

The vessel is called, “Wonderland,” and the fire was quickly extinguished.

There was lots of smoke from the fire that was caused by wiring but it was contained before it spread to the main cabin.

There is no crew at Fire Station 3 (at the end of Dock 4). There is an unstaffed fire station with two unstaffed fireboats.

The Fire Chief, Greg Dean, abrogated the on-duty positions earlier this year. The only on-duty Fireboat crew is located on the downtown waterfront, next to the Washington State Ferry Terminal. If a fireboat is needed on along the Ship Canal, Lk Union, or Lk Washington, the on-duty crew responds from the downtown waterfront in an SUV- a 15 minute response to get to Dock 4, Fire Station 3.
