It’s Africa hot!

July 29th, 2009 · Comments

UPDATE:  The temperature is still climbing.  Up to 102 103 now.  And our 72 last night was a record high for an overnight low too.

UPDATE:  It’s official.  The temperature hit 101 degrees today around 3pm at the official recording station at Sea Tac airport.  That is the highest temperature ever recorded in Seattle.

The line stretched around the block last night as Magnolia residents waited to get into Mounger Pool to cool off.

Expect the same today as temperatures are expected to hit record levels, maybe as high as 101 degrees.  During the really hot weather the pool can fill us fast so its best to get in line early to make sure you get a spot at the public swim sessions.  Pool schedule here.  Expect big crowds at the pool and anywhere else people can go to stay cool.

The city is reminding people that the public libraries are a good place to cool off and the Magnolia library is air conditioned.  In the meantime, do your best to keep cool and remember that in just a few months we will be back to our usual cool and rainy weather.  And compared to what we went through last winter, this is not really so bad is it?
