Your dog (or cat) loves a parade

The 8th annual Pet Parade and Costume Contest to benefit the Seattle Animal Shelter will be part of the Magnolia SummerFest parade on Saturday. You are invited to bring your dog or cat and strut your stuff in this benefit event sponsored by PJ’s Paws and Claws.

You can sign up now until Friday at 6pm at PJ’s in The Village. Check in begins at PJ’s at 9:30am on Saturday. The group will move to the staging area at 10:30am and the parade will begin at 11:00am. The pet parade participants are invited back to Pj’s following the parade for refreshments and the contest winners will be announced around noon.

Prizes will be awarded for pet costumes in categories including funniest and best look-alike pet & owner but you don’t have to have a costume to walk in the pet parade.

Since 2001, PJ’s Paws and Claws has sponsored the pet parade and costume contest with proceeds benefiting the Help the Animals Fund, which pays medical expenses for strays. PJ’s will collect $3 per human walking in the parade. PJ’s donates 5% of its profits to animal rescue and adoption agencies in King County year round.
