SummerFest!

July 31st, 2009 · Comments

This is a big weekend in Magnolia.  The annual Summer Festival begins today and we wanted to run it all down for you to make sure you don’t miss anything.

Things get rolling Friday at noon and run through 10pm.  There is an art show and art for sale.  There is also a children’s art show along with food vendors, crafts for sale and a beer garden.  It all takes place on the ball fields below the community center. There will be an entertainment stage there too and fun stuff for kids.

On Friday night there is an outdoor movie at the community center.  This year they are showing Back to the Future starting at 9pm.

On Saturday the ever popular kid’s parade starts at 10:30am followed by the big parade at 11am.  The route travels down 34th Ave West and turns onto McGraw Street through the Village.  A big part of the parade is the pet parade.  If you want to enter, go to PJ’s Paws and Claws to register before 6pm on Friday.

Following the parade is the Baby Crawl Race at the Magnolia Garden Center and the festival continues through Saturday night.

Village merchants are having a sidewalk sale Friday and Saturday so make sure to check out the bargains when you are at the Festival.

The Magnolia Summerfest is a great place for Art lovers or just people watching. We enjoyed last nights concert from the Rotary Beer Garden and saw friends and neigbhors we hadn't seen for a long time.

The highlight for me was watching the kids perform impromptu on stage. It was a blast!

Don't miss the free health screening today at the Swedish Clinic tent in front of their office. Free Cholestorol and Blood Pressure.
