Beginning today at 6 a.m. until Monday, August. 17 at 3 p.m., Myrtle Edwards park will be crowded first with vendors setting up and then for the annual Hempfest event and tear down. That means it will be tough for bicyclists to navigate the park.
Set up will begin on Wednesday morning and there will be lots of trucks and traffic in the park. Then the festival begins on Saturday. During the event signs in the park will direct cyclists to dismount and walk their bicycles through the park.
Hempfest draws a huge crowd so cyclists will need to plan for more time to cover the 1.25-mile trail that leads from Pier 88 to Pier 70.
Hempfest runs August 15-16 and features five stages of music, a comedy stage, and is the largest gathering of speakers on hemp and marijuana policy reform in the world.
You can also expect lots of extra car and pedestrian traffic on 15th Ave as people come and go from the festival.
