Update on Magnolia armed robbery

September 10th, 2009 · Comments

We have some addiitonal information about the armed robbery on Magnolia Blvd yesterday. Terrie Johnston, Crime Prevention Officer for the Seattle Police Department, says that police believe there is a possibility that this fits with other robberies that have occurred in the North Precinct recently.

The four victims were 18 and 19 years old.  They were sitting in the park in the 2600 block of Magnolia Blvd. West when three black males ages 18-21 approached them and engaged them in a brief conversation.  They then produced handguns and robbed the four victims of their belongings.

The victims called 911 about five minutes later.  Johnston says that four Queen Anne sector patrol cars responded within 5 minutes and set up containment for a K-9 track.  A K-9 team and two patrol units from neighboring David Sector attempted a track but after one hour they terminated the search with negative results.  This case has been assigned to a robbery unit detective for follow-up.

Here is what Johnston is asking Magnolia residents to do:

We request that you continue to be vigilant and call 911 if you see anything suspicious.  Try to give good descriptions to the call taker when making your 911 calls.  If you recall seeing any suspicious vehicles in the area Wednesday morning, please let us know.  License plate numbers are helpful, but not necessarily more important than a good description of the car and the direction headed.  Trust your gut feelings.  If something seems odd or out of the ordinary, pay attention to the feelings and call 911.

If you would like to schedule a Block Watch meeting or free home security survey you can call Johnston at 206-684-4741.
