A big crowd of kids and parents hit The Village Friday afternoon for some serious trick or treating. While we don’t have an official head count, it certainly seemed like the crowd was larger than past years. One merchant told us they handed out 50% more candy this year than last year.
There were lots of adorable little ones and many great Kodak moments.
And we noticed more grown ups in costume this year.
The little tykes are still our favorites.
A big thank you to all the shops and restaurants in The Village who hand out candy and make this such a special community event. Seattle Pie Company passed out tasty caramel covered apple slices.

Here's a question no one has been able to answer for me: Halloween this year is today, on a Saturday. Parents are home and off work, able to plan a day of fun for their kids. So why, pray tell, is the Magnolia merchants event on a Friday at 4 p.m.? Doesn't make sense. You could start with the merchants, and then hit the local neighborhoods for more Trick or Treat. The merchants are open on Saturday, so why have the kids dress up twice?

First, thanks to the local merchants for doing this every year…you don't have to and we appreciate that you do.,
Second, I liked having it on Friday. My kids love dressing up two days in a row and it breaks up the candy madness a bit.

The Haunted Alley was the most ROCKIN Halloween extravaganza I have EVER seen…and I've seen haunted caverns extravaganzas. The money they must have spent!!! And it was still better than most amusement parks I've been to. And truly the experience of fun house mayhem, you go in and it's all kiddie fun, bubbles…then it morphs into Nightmare Lane complete with movie-set quality body parts and creatures hanging from trees, wandering zombies, and a monster running at you full bore with a chainsaw!! And the house with the vibrating floor….OUTRAGEOUS. I'm telling everyone to do this next year. Hope they keep it up!
Also we did Village trick-or-treat plus Viewmont plus some places near us (the latter two on Halloween itself). I have to say this was the best Halloween any of us ever had. Many thanks to the Village merchants, the Viewmont alley folks, the Viewmont residents, and all the other households for making it pretty perfect.
