If you have been in The Village lately, you may have seen the signs at Bleu Papillion announcing that the store is closing. They are now phasing out inventory and the last day of business is set for January 30.
In a letter to customers, owner Jill DeGreen says the decision to close the store was a long time coming and cites the state of the economy as one of the reasons for shutting down operations.
Bleu Papillion has been open on McGraw Street (next door to Szmania’s) since 2004, selling a variety of hand selected items. Buyer and manager Debra Kahwaty says that business has been very slow but closing the store was still a difficult decision. Both women encourage shoppers to continue to support other Magnolia businesses.
There will be one last event at the store on February 11 during Girl’s Night Out in The Village when they are planning a jewelry trunk show.
DeGreen says they have enjoyed serving Magnolia. “We want to let everybody know we are going to miss them – its been a lot of fun.”
