Emerald City Tanning closed?

It appears that Emerald City Sun Tanning Salon has ceased operations at its Magnolia Village location.

We have heard from readers for the past few months about inconsistent hours and unscheduled closures at the tanning salon but now it looks like it has shut down for good. The door is locked during business hours and the phone number for the center is no longer working.

Magnolia Voice reader Lucy was a customer at Emerald City. She wrote to tell us that she received a message that the tanning center closed and accounts are being moved to a Ballard location near LA Fitness.

Emerald City operates at seven locations in Puget Sound. The Magnolia location remains on the company website and there is no information regarding the apparent closure.

I saw them moving the beds out a couple weeks ago and then there was a note on the door that said that they couldn’t maintain the cost of rent here and that any accounts could be moved to any other Emerald City Tanning location, of which there are many. Whether or not you believe in tanning, it’s sad to see another business fail in Magnolia.

Can someone open a decent brunch place there? We have 5 or so coffee shops within spitting distance of each other but no real neighborhood weekend brunch option.

Very sad to see them go and another biz in Magnolia shut down. And they don’t just offer tanning bed, which I never do, but they had great spray tanning. The Ballard location that took the business is not honoring the spray tan credits we had.

I was sorry to see the health club go but a tanning business……not so sorry at all. I guess it’s like smoking, no matter how much you tell people it’s bad, they are still gonna do it.

It was a stupid choice for a location. Socio-economically they need an area with less education and money to draw their mouth breathing clientele from. They do well in Ballard.

Looks like the Lynnwood store is closing, too. Same type of inconsistant hours and unplanned closures during business hours. When I have asked to talk to a manager I have been refused. I have filed with the BBB and have refuted the bank charges. This place is a rip off!!
