Here are some things you might want to check out on this sunny weekend (lets hope!) in Magnolia and beyond:
Watch for lots of boat on the waters off Magnolia on Saturday during the Elliott Bay Salmon Derby. Hopeful anglers will be looking to catch the big one and win the first prize of $2,500.
Magnolia’s new meat shop, Bill the Butcher, will be firing up the grill outside their store on Saturday at 34th and Emerson starting at 11:30a.m. to let people sample meat from the Thundering Hooves Farm. They say they will keep grilling until they run out of meat.
The Magnolia Farmer’s Market is in full swing with lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. We notice that the crowds just keep growing each Saturday for this popular Magnolia event. Its in the Magnolia Community Center parking lot from 10a.m till 2p.m.
GreenStage, Seattle’s Shakespeare in the Park stage company will perform As You Like It in Discovery Park on Sunday at 3pm. Look for them about 200 yards south of the Visitor’s Center. GreenStage hopes to inspire audiences to engage in live theatre as part of their recreation. The company always performs for free, collecting voluntary donations after performances.
This is prime garage sale season and if you are looking for a big sale, head over to neighboring Crown Hill. More than 50 families are signed up to hold garage sales on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the fourth annual Crown Hill Neighborhood Association garage sale. The map of sales and what is available at each location here. More than a dozen sales will also have a lemonade stand to quench your thirst as you shop. Printed maps will also be available at the Crown Hill Center at 9250 14th Ave NW.
