In the middle of all this snow coverage, Heather writes to us for some help locating the owner of these dogs.

She writes:  We had two dogs show up at our door tonight around 10 PM.  Both have collars, however, neither has a tag.  One is  Chow, and I believe the other is Bichon Frise.  Both are adult dogs.  We live in the 3700 Block of West Commodore Way, close to the Ballard Locks (on the Magnolia side).
We would love to get them reunited with the owner.   I can be contacted at
hweimann@me.com or 206-790-6025.

At around 6 pm on Monday, my husband spoke to a lady who was searching for 2 white dogs on 33rd Ave. near Thurman. We don’t know her name or address, but she was driving around in a dark color van with some kind of commercial sign on the side.

  • Lena Hunt

I saw the same lady calling out for dogs from her van. The best thing to do is call or take the dogs to Magnolia Vet Center in the Village. The dogs might have a chip and they will be able to read it and find the owners.

  • Yeah!

I thought I saw these dogs at the Vet last night with there owner around 6. I would call VCA as they could help.

Thanks for taking them in- that was kind of you, especially on such a cold night.

I hope they are reunited with their owner soon.

My husband heard someone searching frantically for a dog named Sophie (maybe Sophia) last night after 8:30 on 34th Ave W. Hopefully that was one of them.

Happy ending to this story, the dogs were just reunited with their owner. Luckily, their owner had one of the dogs micro-chipped!

    Annie,

Thanks for the update – and Heather for your post. These dogs were in our yard on 4oth just north of Commodore around 10:00 this morning. Neither dog had tags. The larger dog seemed fine but the little dog was cold and his fur and paws were starting to freeze. We tried to coax them into the side yard but they were skittish and took off. I walked through the neighborhood looking for them and couldn’t find them.

Glad the story has a happy ending. Microchipping is good but tags with current contact information provide a way to get in touch with the owner if it’s not possible to get the dogs to a vet. I’m updating my dog’s tags as soon as I can get back on the road!

Thank you all for your concern and the update. We kept the dogs overnight, fed and watered them. They were very cold and skittish when they showed up last night, but eventually relaxed and slept.

Unfortunately, this morning when my husband took them out to go to the bathroom, they managed to get away.
We had talked to some of our neighbors, and our neighbors remembered seeing these dogs in our neighborhood before. We are very happy to hear they were reunited with the owners! I’m glad one of them was micro chipped. For obvious reasons, we weren’t able to get them to the vet in the middle of the night last night, and some tags would have been really useful.

Great to hear a happy ending to all of this!
