Discovery Park work party on Saturday

REI is organizing a work party in Discovery Park this Saturday and they would love to have Magnolia residents join in to help.

Volunteers will participate in planting native species, removing invasive plants, and restoring a small corner of the park. Snacks, drinks, and a free "Get Dirty" t-shirt are provided by REI. Gloves, tools, and friendly know-how are provided by Discovery Park. All you need to bring is yourself, weather and work-appropriate clothes, and a willingness to do your part. Growing up, I always called that white ball in the background, the Church of Scientology. It’s pretty creepy when you are by your self and you look up and imagine a bunch of people laughing for no reason next to a bust of L. Ron Hubbard inside that white ball. Anyways I agree with Kip.

Why not just save the money on snacks and actually hire someone to do it? Oh, that’s right, suburban white people need a place to gather and pat themselves on their back.

Yeah genius, that’s a great idea. For the cost of a some Clif bars and Gatorade, the “suburban white people” could hire some Mexicans, right?

Some people( even white people) like to volunteer time on projects they care about.

First, the snacks were probably donated! Second, not suppling them wouldn’t come close to paying for a crew to do the work!
Three, Get off your lazy butt and go help out in your community and meet some of your neighbors…..and they are all different colors!

I do love the way you have presented this specific difficulty plus it does supply me a lot of fodder for thought. Nonetheless, because of everything that I have experienced, I just simply trust as the feedback pile on that individuals stay on issue and don’t get started on a tirade associated with the news du jour.
