UPDATE: Teresa tells us that the new owners will take over Melt Café on September 1 and will close for changes to the restaurant before launching the taco and burrito business.
Sorry to hear today from Teresa Schulz at Melt Café that she has sold the restaurant. Here is her note:
Dear Friends, Neighbors and Colleagues of Melt Café,
Since opening December 2009, I have thoroughly enjoyed making delicious sandwiches for my patrons. It was a great compliment to be included in the Seattle Magazine sandwich issue for our Rustic Ham and Cheese, as well as providing catering for your special events.
Although it has been a lot of fun opening the restaurant "from scratch", from menu development and construction permits to crafting our dishes in-house, I have decided to move my life in a different direction. I needed more time to focus on my health and family, and selling the business was the best option.
With amazing speed, a restaurant owner purchased Melt Café and plans to install a taco and burrito business in its place. I hope you welcome them into your community as you welcomed Melt Café. Thank you for the support and great memories. I wish all of you a future filled with success!
Here is one last look at that famous sandwich. No word on when the new Mexican restaurant at 2818 Thorndyke Ave West will open. We will keep you posted.
