The new Ship Canal Trail is done and everyone is invited to celebrate its completion at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 19.
Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) is presiding over the event, which will take place on the grassy area south of and below West Emerson Street Bridge, where the bridge intersects with 16th Avenue West. SDOT will thank project partners, funders and supporters. SDOT will then open the new 11th Avenue West to West Emerson Street section of the trail for bicyclists and pedestrians.

The final phase of this trail means it now connects to the Elliott Bay Trail and that Interbay and Magnolia residents can take their bikes along routes that lead to the Fremont Bridge and out to the Burke-Gilman Trail and Dexter Avenue. The trail also has new fencing and a railroad crossing signal that Burlington Northern Santa Fe installed.
