Do you Parkour? Compete this weekend

Parkour is a sport that lets you overcome your obstacles. Literally. Participants jump, crawl, climb and balance their way through an obstacle course, whether it be in a gym or at a park.

Parkour is the art of overcoming obstacles effectively and swiftly using only your body. Fundamentals include running, jumping, crawling, and climbing, in order to pass over, under, around, and through obstacles in the everyday world. Parkour offers a full-body workout to people at any level of experience or fitness; it improves our ability to move, increases our confidence, and changes how we see the world.

This Sunday Parkour Visions is hosting a competition at the 6,000 square foot gym facility from 3 to 9 p.m. at 1210 W Nickerson, near the SPU campus.

There will be two competitions ? one for kids 8 to 14 years old and one for older teens and adults. Each competitor will run three different courses for time. The winners will be based on overall fastest time on all three courses.

The event schedule will be:
3:00-5:30 pm ? Kids competition
6:00-9:00 pm ? Adults competition
The cost is $25 to compete. Spectators are asked for a small donation. Those with unlimited gym memberships compete for free!

Parkour Visions, a non-profit based in Seattle, has been spreading the benefits of effective parkour practice through teaching and community outreach since 2007
