The investigation of a massive multi-car accident continues to snarl traffic along 15th Avenue West. Five people were taken to Harborview Hospital after the early morning crash at 15th Avenue W. and W. Garfield Street, (just east of the Magnolia Bridge). Seattle Fire Department spokesman Kyle Moore says help was on hand even before medics and firefighters arrived:
At 6:22 a.m. firefighters and paramedics responded to reports of a 6 car accident with one patient trapped inside her car. When firefighters arrived they found an off-duty Seattle Firefighter/Paramedic and an off-duty AMR EMT performing CPR on the female patient. Firefighters cut the roof off the car and cut out the steering column to free the female patient.
He says medics continued CPR on the 50 year old woman during her transport Harborview. As of press time, she was in critical condition with life threatening injuries. The 40 year old male driver of a red SUV was able to get himself out of the sunroof, and was transported to Harborview in serious condition. 3 other patients were transported to Harborview with minor injuries. The cause of the accident is yet unkown. In the meantime, click here to see photos from the scene, courtesy of king5.com.
