A group of Magnolia and Queen Anne families are throwing a bake sale this Thursday?afternoon to?raise money?for?victims of Hurricane Sandy.? Organizer Maran Hanley writes:
As we watched the devastation of Sandy and the following nor’easter, our hearts have gone out to those in New York… 40,000 can’t go back home.? In the region it is estimated that 150,000 homes are beyond rebuilding. Many of us have wondered what we can do to help out, even if it’s in a small way.?Our friends and fellow community members have found a couple of charities in New York that are accepting donations and started “Seattle Occupies Sandy” (S.O.S.) to gather donations to send back east.? A couple of us have also volunteered to help the cause, so we will be accepting donations this weekend around Queen Anne and Magnolia and we plan to ship them to New York next week.? We hope our bake sale can raises money to buy much needed supplies.? They will all be sent to St. Francis de Sales Church in Brooklyn, NY.
?You can purchase treats or simply donate?Thursday, November 15th,?from 3-6pm at 3320 West McGraw St.
