Project HeronWatch open house January 18th

January 16th, 2014 · No Comments

Ask anyone what our city’s bird is, and you might hear “SEAHAWK!” But did you know that Seattle’s official bird is the Great Blue Heron?
Meet up at Project HeronWatch’s open house this weekend and learn about our neighbor and ways you can help save this beauty. Hosted by Heron Habitat Helpers from 11:00 am – 2 pm at the Discovery Park Visitor Center, guests can share ideas and see a proposed live streaming heron display.  They are promising free family fun (like an actual Great Blue Heron wing, and webcam footage of baby heron chicks), as you explore interactive stations from:

• Heron Habitat Helpers

• Seattle Parks & Recreation

• Green Seattle Partnership

• Groundswell NW

• The Burke Museum

• U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
At noon, biologist Chris Anderson, (from the WA Dept. of Fish & Wildlife) will give a presentation.  Click here for more info.
