Magnolia mama in the best ‘Food Fight’ …ever

August 18th, 2014 · No Comments

Anderson-Sanford with young Food Fighters fans

Tomorrow night, Magnolia mother of two, Cortney Anderson-Sanford is squaring off against a world-renowned chef…both are cooking one of her treasured family recipes. If her version of the dish wins, she earns a cash prize and advances in the competition.  Even if she doesn’t win, she still gets to face off again against another culinary expert, climbing a money ladder with increasing cash prizes for every professional chef she knocks out.

The show is called “Food Fighters,” a high-stakes culinary game that airs each Tuesday night at 8 on KING 5. From NBC:

In a series of compelling, tension-filled showdowns, a top-notch amateur home cook will face off one by one against five professional chefs from every corner of the world.  Armed only with recipes for their best signature dishes, they’ll square off against an expert chef who will have to cook the same dish.  The completed dishes will then be sampled in a blind taste test by culinary judges known as “The Dinner Party.” After the two competing dishes are tested, the verdict determining the winner is given to the host.

Each episode features one contestant.  They could ultimately win up to $100,000. The show is hosted by TV personality, author and food enthusiast Adam Richman (“Man Vs. Food,” “Fandemonium”), and features culinary experts, including top chefs Cat Cora, Lorena Garcia, G. Garvin, Duff Goldman, Elizabeth Faulkner and Jet Tila.

Although she has had to stay tight-lipped about the outcome of her episode, we are pretty sure she had an amazing time (and made some incredible food!)  When we asked her about the whole experience, Cortney said:

Being part of Food Fighters has been one of THE most memorable things to happen in my non “mom” life!  Having the opportunity to showcase my families signature recipes and my cooking skills against top chefs is a unique opportunity – it makes me want to scream from the mountain tops that EVERYONE has skills hidden inside of them that they may not know they have.  I am ready now to get back out there and find some new challenges to take on!

Our local chef-mama’s episode airs tomorrow night.  But before that, tune into New Day NW on the same network at 11am, to catch her cooking up a storm. Congratulations, Cortney! We’ll be watching!
