Benefit fund for Hannah

June 30th, 2009 by Gladys

There is now a fund set up to raise money for Hannah Geiger.  Hannah is the 19 year old Magnolia girl who was the victim of a hate crime.  The young woman was attacked near her Magnolia home on June 1 when three suspects yelled racial slurs and demeaning words while beating her.  The fund came about in response to many inquiries from people who wanted to help Hannah.   Hundreds of people gathered to show support for Hannah two weeks ago at a barbecue at the Community Center.

The Hannah Geiger Benefit Fund is now open at People Bank on West McGraw Street in The Village and deposits may be made at any People Bank branch.  Organizers say the many expressions of support for Hannah and her family, as well as concern for our neighborhood, have been heartwarming and reassuring.  They want to thank everyone for their interest and caring.

No suspects have been arrested in the case. The attackers are described as white men in their late teens or 20’s with blonde hair.  They were possibly driving a Honda. If you witnessed the attack or the suspects about 3:30 PM on June 1 near the Magnolia Community Center call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
