Dine Around Seattle includes Szmania’s

November 13th, 2008 by Gladys

The Dine Around Seattle event, formerly known as 25 for $25, is happening this month and Magnolia’s own Szmania’s is one of the participating restaurants.  This is the seventh year for this bi-annual event that brings together Seattle area restaurants that offer a three course meal for a special price.

This year Dine Around Seattle has thirty participating restaurants-including Szmania’s. During the month of November you can dine at any of them on Sunday through Thursday night and enjoy a three course meal for $30. This includes your choice of an appetizer, entrée, and dessert but remember that you pay extra for any beverages plus the tax and tip. Click here to see the menu that Szmania’s is offering this year. Reminder that Szmania’s is closed on Monday night.

You can get information and menus for all participating restaurants at www.dinearoundseattle.org

New this year is the addition of the Secret Diner who will visit each of the 30 restaurants secretly and post reviews on the website.

Oktoberfest celebration at Szmania’s

September 19th, 2008 by Gladys

Looking for a way to celebrate Oktoberfest?

Szmania’s got you covered with a “Sip & Dip” on October 2. What is a “Sip and Dip” you ask? We wondered too. Szmania’s says it’s will be a multiple-wine and beer tasting paired with three small-plate courses by Chef Ludger served family style.

Sounds pretty good especially because the menu includes Szegedinger Gulasch, Pork & Sauerkraut Soup with spiced Paprika and Crème Fraiche, Smoked Trout with crisp Apple & Horseradish Salad and Spätbungenden braised Beef Roulade stuffed with Pork Sausage & Pickles paired with beer and wines.

The cost is $32 per person (not including tax & gratuity) and pre-paid reservations are necessary. If the menu makes your mouth water call now because space is limited to 35 guests.  Visit the website for reservations.

Szmania’s

September 1st, 2008 by Abner

Szmania’s (American)
www.szmanias.com
3321 W McGraw St (map)
Seattle, WA 98199

Gladys and Abner: We think this is by the far the nicest restaurant in Magnolia. It is owned and run by long time residents Julie and Ludger Szmania and they do a wonderful job. Perfect for a drink at the bar or a very nice dinner. They also have lots of specials reflecting the seasons of the year. We highly recommend it!

DineAroundSeattle.com: “…The first impression we had upon entering Szmania’s was warm and friendly. I’m happy to report the feeling never wavered during our stay.”

CitySearch.com: “…but every bite of every course (3 courses for $25.00, limited time offering) was delicious and the best deal in town.”

NWSource.com:
“The confidence exuded by the waitstaff, the concentration exhibited by the cooks and the obvious enthusiasm of the customers are proof that Szmania’s is a restaurant at the top of its game.”
