The new sidewalks are in on McGraw Street and the project is mostly complete.

The city says there are still a few things that they need to finish. Next week, weather permitting, the crosswalks going north and east from the new sidewalk will be repainted. Then they will install the bike rack and finish up the tree pits.

We got this note from Liz Ellis, Project Coordinator for SDOT Sidewalk Safety Repair Program:
SDOT and Merlino would like to thank all of the adjacent businesses and their customers for being so patient with us. The Magnolia Village has applied to the City for more funding for continued sidewalk repair next year. I hope that comes through and that we get to see you again in 2010!

You can expect to see work crews in The Village this week as they finish the sidewalk project that started last summer. Last year Seattle Department Of Transportation made good progress repairing and restoring the sidewalk along the north side of the 3200 block of West McGraw.
Now sidewalks on the south side of the street are being repaired. The work will take place on the west side of 32nd Ave W between West Lynn and West McGraw and wrap around on the south side of West 32nd to the post office. The project is also adding a curb bulb at the SW corner of 32 Ave W & W McGraw that will shorten the crossing distance for pedestrians and add a little more room for parking on the south side of W McGraw. Heaved asphalt in the planting strip will be replaced with bigger tree pits and concrete.

There will be access to businesses during the construction. Funding for this project comes from the City of Seattle Neighborhood Street Fund and the SDOT Sidewalk Safety Repair program.
